I recently heard on the radio that, in the course of our daily lives, Americans receive over 3,200 marketing messages a day. Wow! I don’t know if it’s true, but I can
believe it. After hearing this bit of information I started noticing how we are bombarded with marketing messages almost everywhere we turn: radio, newspapers, magazines, television, billboards, bumper stickers, signs, T-shirts, web sites, emails. So the question then becomes: How do you get your message out and break through this clutter?

You write an article that provokes others to read it: you create controversy. People love to read about a good controversy.
Creating controversy is not as hard as it sounds. Just pick up and scan a newspaper to find out what is going on in the world (or your market) and use this knowledge to differentiate yourself from your competition: write an article on a hot topic and talk about it in such a way that others know you are an expert.
